We are proud of our Circle members and the delicious, heart-centered work they do. Today we are shining a spotlight on Kathryn Postulka who rocks our world!

Hannah & Michelle: Where are you right now as you begin to answer these questions?
Kathryn: I’m in my cloffice (closet/office), which I LOVE. It’s a little room we have in our house that’s too small to fit a bed in but large enough to do something with. Since we own an older home, our closet space is minimal, so I took it over and built a closet and a office space for myself. The walls are painted an earthy, warm brown. I have a gorgeous big mirror I got from Ikea and everything is neat and pretty and just the way I like it.
Hannah & Michelle: We love that picture of you in your cloffice! How long have you had your own business? Tell us about it.
Kathryn: I graduated from IIN in July of 2011 and really started getting serious about getting myself up and going as a business around January of 2012. Before then, I was experimenting here and there and trying to figure out which direction to go in.

It made my heart swell with happiness to give my little boy a fun, family-filled party at Grandma’s house for his second birthday. Even though we had to drive to New Jersey! It was well worth it to have so many loved ones nearby.
Ever since we moved from Boston to D.C., we’ve made some friends but nothing like the group we left behind. When it comes to throwing parties we often ponder…”But who will we invite??”
Such is a life that is transplanted miles from home. And it’s the truth – it’s hard to throw a good party when you have no one (or very few) people to invite.
Damn. A hard truth.
When I first started my business, I had about 200 people on my list. They were friends, family, co-workers. Maybe 10% of them were actually interested in what I was doing. And just like when you throw a party, I had to wonder who would sign up for my programs and services if only 20 of 200 people were even interested in the first place? [click to continue…]

Up or down, all or nothing, top or bottom – those are playing small and small is not moving us into living and working gorgeously. We like extremes because they make sense, especially when it comes to negative thinking. It’s one way thinking. One way thinking is one way believing. One way believing is our ticket to going nowhere butterflies flutter.
I’m exhausted. I am depressed. Life is hard. Why do I always do this? I am afraid. I’ll never be able to do that. I don’t want this.
Instead of believing that we have to get from down to up, why don’t we surf around for some beauty in between? Maybe you don’t want this. Maybe you had a different idea of what your gorgeous life and business would look like. Truth is, we don’t get to decide everything, we only get to jump on our boards, ride the wave and make a decision to understand what this little lesson is teaching us. I prefer to learn. How about you?
Can you change? Hell yes you can. Can you turn it around? If you want to. Is it all or nothing? Not ever.
Let’s stop thinking we have to get from top to bottom and start to understand why we are where we are.
Take a little action, shift your thoughts and things start to turn around, they change as we move into the beauty of what is the now. Surfing in the now. And you can start now from either position, top or bottom.
